A dream come true - My jewellery to be displayed in the Gallery

Everyone likes recognition and applause.

I have been doing jewellery for the past 10 years, and all the time, I feel only that I am admiring it.

In Tamil, they have a saying. I am translating it. It goes like this, "The crow always thinks that its baby is gold"

May be because I made it, I am admiring it always. Sometimes the piece that I like the most does not sell.

I always wondered. Why people are not buying this, and I have been searching for that customer who will buy the jewellery that I always loved.

So that I can connect with them immediately. It has still not happened. Well not in a way that I expected.

But today, I think I have got my share of cake.

I sent three pieces to the competition at the last moment. I did not know about the competition till the last two days.

But then I thought, let me try. And what happened, today I get a mail telling that my jewellery has been selected for the finals to be displayed in the Gallery. What an overwhelming feeling and full of happiness. I am still not out of it. So grateful to God, for showering his blessings.  I am singing and dancing.

Thought will share with all of you'll.

Enameled Pendant

I love colors and I so I loved the concept of enameling on jewellery. But I never thought, that it would take so many years to become confident in it.
I have been practicing enamelling for seven years, and everytime it has been a lesson.
To do enamel, you also need to know a bit of silversmithing. So at first you have master silversmithing and then do decent silver pieces and then apply vitreous enamels on it.
I have never shied from trying anything, telling its difficult. But this is one I think it is.
Preparing the design in silver, choosing colours( each company's colour will differ after firing) enamelling, ..

Village jewellery

Paambadam Jewellery.

I have been searching for this jewellery for many years. Because these are worn by women that are more than 70 years of age generally. Very rare to find women in the city wearing this. And only in certain villages you can find these women.
A very complicated design and the ear lobes grows larger as years pass by. I heard that a leaf is inserted inside the earlobes when they are small kids and as the leaf expands this hole also grows big and then they start wearing this. (I am not sure, secondary information)

Not sure about the scientific reason behind wearing this jewellery, but I believe that there must one.

This is a painting of a friend who posted on facebook yesterday. And it was so beautiful, both the painting and the "Paati" ( this is how we call old women)

Stamped copper bracelet

This piece has been pending for a long time. Stamped and textured in copper, interwoven with Turquoise beads and then finished with a brass clasp.

Old vintage like. I love it. Sometimes I think, its crazy to love your own jewellery. But what to do, as a creator, I have to love mine first.:)
